About
Ciao!
Benvenuti (welcome) to my blog.
My name is Amelia.
I travel. I cook. I photograph. I entertain. I grow my own produce…And I write all about it.
My work has been featured – among other places – in the Food News Journal, on Edible magazines, in Splendora, and on a local TV channel. I am a contributor to Honest Cooking. A few of my recipe creations have won recipe and photograph contests and I have been nominated for the Babble Top 100. I am speaking at BlogHerFood 11 in Atlanta, on May 20: My panel: “Off the Dish: Writing About Food in Travel, History and Experience”.
(Scroll down on this page for writings, Tv segments, write-ups, features and nominations).
I focus on high quality ingredients, carefully photographed and presented food. I mainly write about Italian stories, travel, food, but not only. The world is my plate. My culinary inspiration comes from many different cuisines (did I mention I am 100% Italian: by birth, lifestyle, spirit and taste? I live in the US. I was born in Switzerland. I have lived in England. I have traveled the world). My cooking is centered on few, fresh, local, and preferably seasonal ingredients. I love making dessert!
I own many many (more than 101) cooking, culinary theory, food history, world cuisine and food reference books, which I happily read at night for inspiration.
I really like basil, lemon zest, espresso, honey, and anything smoked or salt-cured. I do not like oysters, goat cheese, tripe, and Sauerkraut
I started Z Tasty Life in the fall of 2009 from the desire to share my passion for life and food with the world and people just like YOU.I hope you enjoy my food, writing and photos. I appreciate all your thoughtful comments and feedback and if you would like to drop me a line, my contact details are below.
To pay for all my fun passions (and don’t get me wrong: I LOVE my job: it’s taken me even to the Annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos!), I work for a global fortune global 500, helping companies develop strategies, all over the world.
I am also a busy parent of 2 primary school boys (who love cooking with me and eat just about any food). And I am married to an adorable inventor/designer with whom I love dancing, especially to 70s music!
